Bundeskriminalamt is the federal investigative police agency of Germany. I create, design and manage the innovation hub. We want to leverage new methods, tools, technologies and approaches for the Federal Criminal Police Office. The goal is not only to maintain future viability but to expand it. We work with internal and external innovators and innovation enthusiasts to do this.
I support voluntary as a Business Mentor young entrepreneurs starting new ventures through the e@UBC program. I love helping the entrepreneurs, giving advice and sometimes a second view. e@UBC is the entrepreneurship program at the University of British Columbia. e@UBC helps UBC entrepreneurs change the world and supports the creation of innovative new ventures with extraordinary economic and social impact.
DB mindbox is the innovation hub and startup accelerator of Deutsche Bahn AG. The opportunity to innovate the nearly 200-year railway business and support the transition into the digital era fascinates me. I managed the startup accelerator. The accelerator activities' core were real-world proof-of-concepts between startup, Deutsche Bahn business unit, and DB mindbox. We tested innovations from software to hardware and over all business areas, from maintenance over operations to HR. I achieved a high success rate resulting in ongoing business decisions at the end of the first project phase.
quo connect is a leading boutique management consulting firm for maintenance, operations and asset management within the automotive, transportation, energy, and consumer goods industry. The optimization of business projects in operations and maintenance attracted my focus during my projects. I was continually searching for opportunities to improve the existing state using modern technology (IoT, Business Intelligience and more). We developed a new unique view on the maintenance costs for components, and later I managed the internal software development and roll-out of the business intelligience tool. Also, I was able to reduce maintenance costs and create a better-timed maintenance schedule.
Research focuses on developments in the world's agricultural markets and their implications for producers, consumers and the environment. Securing food for the world's population while at the same time conserving natural resources and ensuring a profitable situation for producers is an exciting challenge. Also, I gave lectures on agricultural markets for the students and supervised final and seminar papers.
During my time at the Christian-Albrechts-University, I researched Prediction Markets and received my doctorate. I was able to show that Prediction Markets aggregate safely and accurately shared information. I have successfully demonstrated this with my programmed markets in agricultural markets, internal company forecasts, and political forecasts. I managed the software development, operation, and analysis of all markets. I hired a computer science student for the programming part. Details about the results and markets could be found in my dissertation. I presented my results at conferences and won the best presentation award at one conference. I aquired the funding for my research from the foundation Schleswig-Holsteinische Landschaft.
I completed my studies in economics with a German diploma (equivalent MSc) in International Economics. The theoretical explanations for the economic developments on earth fascinated me for my studies. Besides the theoretical bases, I was fascinated by the technical possibilities of statistics, econometrics up to the beginnings of artificial intelligence. To be able to answer open questions with the new technological options motivated me.
Because of my origins on a farm, I have always been closely connected to agriculture. For this reason, I completed my studies of agricultural sciences with the specialization Agribusiness and Agricultural Economics with the BSc in addition to economics.
